Elizabeth Ponce
President/CEO
Elizabeth Ponce is president of Zion Contractors, LLC. Ponce’s philosophy is to personally provide outstanding customer
service and ensure a commitment to quality throughout the company.
Her daily responsibilities include every aspect of the bidding process from beginning to end. Such as acquiring and soliciting bids to project formation management. She is constantly directing activities and evaluating job performance, quality control and timeliness of each project. Additionally, she manages the sales, accounting, operations, and writes job proposals. Her primary responsibility however, is to help Zion attain its vision “to be the best company in general contracting.
Her keys to Zion’s success have been: selecting the right leadership team to support her and her company’s vision; outstanding and loyal employees, who she can count on to perform jobs on-time and within budget and her commitment to excellence in everything she does.
Elizabeth has many notable accomplishments including being one of the recipients of the Dallas Business Journal, Minority Business Leader Award. Last year she was selected for the national Latina Style 2007 award. This is the most respected and coveted business award program for Latina business owners in the United States. Being selected as Latina Style award winner demonstrates her business acumen because they select business owners who exemplify business innovation, leadership, and contribution to building a strong community. Also in 2007 she was presented with the Greater Dallas Hispanic Chamber of Commerce’s Pacesetter Award. Lastly, in October 2007, she received the Silver award for the Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) of the North Central Texas Certification Agency (NCTRCA).
These awards are only a sample of the ones that she received last year
Besides being the recipient of these awards, Elizabeth still has time to be a Board secretary of the Hispanic Contractors Association. Ponce is the first female construction business owner to serve as a board member for the Hispanic Contractors Association. In 2006, she became a part of the Inaugural Class of the Hispanic Institute.
Elizabeth’s vision is to break the current mold that women in construction have thereby creating a new paradigm of what it means to be a woman in the construction business. As a role model, she wants to provide young Latinas a roadmap to success. Starting a business is a challenging endeavor, but it is even more intimidating if you are minority and a female. Her success proves that all is possible, regardless of gender or race. The advice Elizabeth follows is: “keep working hard, be very persistent, then you can get whatever you want.”
